Week 1 – June 18-22, 2018

Summer Painting Camp 1 - This camp will teach acrylic painting techniques that focus on texture, movement, composition and color theory.  Students will learn to mix their own colors, set up and clean up their painting supplies and paint on canvas.

International Chefs & Bakers - Take a trip around the world with Mrs. Savarese. Students will discover the world through reading, cooking, and hands on activities. Each day students will learn about a different country around the world. Students will hear stories from this country, learn about its culture, and create a meal from that part of the world as well as make a special craft each day. At the end of the week, students will leave with their very own cookbook highlighting the recipes created over the week.

  • Open to students entering 1st through – 4th grades

Computer Animation- Students are introduced to programming by creating short computer animated movies with a focus on fun. Campers will create animated stories using the Scratch animated programming, Voki and Photo Story tools which allows them to program interactions between characters. They will use a gallery of pictures, 3D characters, scenery and custom animations that are designed to help develop their stories. The students will learn basic programming skills and have the opportunity broaden their imagination.

Let’s Clay Around- Clay is something that is fun for everyone!  Students will have the opportunity to work with three types of clay, ceramic clay, Model Magic and Sculpey clay.

 Lights Up: Putting on a Play: Session A Mrs. DeVivo will direct budding actors will perfect their performance skills by participating in a variety of Drama games and exercises that will improve their stage presence, diction, projection, and movement. A large part of the day will be spent working together devising an original play that will be performed in the Student Activities Center for family and friends on the last day of class.  Working on scenery as well as gathering props and costumes for the performance will be included, too!  There will be a short snack break; please pack a light morning snack and something to drink each day.

Crafts that Rock - The most obvious benefit of doing arts and crafts is that the activity foments creativity. This summer we will be tie-dying, painting, creating Sculpey clay jewelry and sculptures, using various methods of kiln fired ceramics, Model Magic, Macramé, Metal Stamping and other crafting techniques..

Lego Camp - Colorful and easy to use, Lego bricks have withstood the test of time because of their unlimited open-ended possibilities. There is not just one way to play with a set of Legos.  Join us this summer for a few days of Lego fun.

Week 2 – June 25-29, 2018

Lights Up: Putting on a Play!:Session BSee Session A above -open to students entering grades 3rd - 9th. Students that participated in Session A are welcome to join Session B as well!  The actor’s experience will be completely different as new drama games will be introduced and the Session B play will have totally different storyline and outcome. 

  • 8:30am – 11:00am  (Performance June 29 @ 10:30am in SAC)
  • $225 (*Students that participated in Session A will receive a discount = $200)

Disney Musicals Drama Camp! - Bring the magic of Disney to life on stage at OHA! Each day Mrs. DeVivo will direct budding performers will meet in the SAC to reenact scenes as well as learn songs and dances from their favorite Disney Musicals such as "The Lion King," "The Little Mermaid," “Peter Pan,” “Aladdin” and "Frozen" just to name a few. The students will also take part in a variety of drama games and movement exercises as well as making masks and puppets. 

  • open to students entering grades 1st – 5th.

Puppetry Camp Mrs. DeVivo will lead Students will have an opportunity to learn about and make their own puppets.  We will create a variety of hand puppets including paper bag, tube, finger, sock and stick puppets as well as marionettes and shadow puppets.  The students will create puppets based on popular folk and fairy tales that we will read, they will use their imaginations to make their own creations and the students will also learn how to write a puppet script and put on a puppet show!
